Commute II

By Legs

old man winter's
smiling again
turn the corner
onto a stretch
of old two-lane
frosty tipped stalks
of winter wheat
missing warm breezes
big merc hums quietly
electric seat slid back
angled 45 degrees
like the astronaut
sitting for takeoff
feet missing hiway pegs
shoved under heels' ends
warm stupor envelops
my laid back head
tom petty sings get
up and climb that hill
missing senses honed
by lurking dangers
cop running parallel,
new concrete north one mile
i grin with foot on pedal
missing throttle screaming
old man winter's
smiling again...
