The Leaving
By Mark
She stands there
Alone but not lonely
A tornado of confidence
Approach with care.
I looked in her eyes
They smile laugh and kiss me
“Hi Dad” her mouth tossess out
Smiles make soft lines.
“Don't leave” I try to say
Tears mess my tongue
Hugs say more
My heart says Stay Stay.
I knew this would happen someday
Her life journey must begin
Her dreams so big
Her eyes wide open but still closed
How can I tell her?
Nice people hurt
Love will hurt
The world is for big people not her.
Don't go, Don't go
Have a great time
Heart, Head, Heart, Head
How can I say no.
They say that growing up
Is the hardest thing for parents to do
Go my sweet one
And from the cup of life sup.
Please don't forget I'm here
Waiting for your call, your letter
Growing up in painful silence
Knowing every mistake you make out there.
I've been there
I've done it
I've seen it
Why can't you just stay here?
Go my sweet
The world awaits you
It needs you
And you need it.
My job is done
Yours has just begun
Learn what every lover of life knows
Learn what life wants you to remember.
Don't take more than you want
Don't want more than you can take
Share all that is beautiful in you
But keep a special piece for yourself.
So go my little angel
Live your dreams
See your world, but,
Please come back into mine.
