To Fall Back On
by Robert Murphy

To me you come when all have left you standing alone
And you I welcome, arms open with trust
But when interests wander, abandonment surfaces
And here I am left alone to wonder
Why am I not permanent?
Back and forth you travel between what fits you at the time
Disillusioned by the glamour
Overcome by the fame and attention
You have no face and your masks are piling high
What form will you take to next?
Or will there be nothing
And again I will gain meaning.
